Hi, We have recently found a small brass disc about the size of a 20 pence piece. It is engraved with the name of my Husband's Grandmother (1899-1978) and an address on Nabcross Lane.
On the back is a number KFIE/110/2. The disc has 2 pair of holes, one pair on each side and one pair still has a metal loop attached.
Can anyone shed any light on what it may be?
Thanks,
Sue

Have you established at what point in her life that Nabcross Lane was significant to try and date it?

Well quite by accident I found the answer today. I was looking her up on the 1939 register and noticed that on the top of the page were some letters, KFIE. I then studied the rest of the page and the household and her position in the house corresponded to the other numbers on the disc, so I guess she had the disc made in 1939/40 and it was meant to be either a form of ID or something to do with the registration/war coupons system.
So although I had been led to believe that they had lived in the family house since the 1920s for some reason they were living in Nabcross Lane in 1939.
Thank you for the interest.
