I am trying to figure out where Bank Marsh is located. It is listed as a location for someone being baptized in Huddersfield. More importantly, I'm trying to determine where it is situated in relation to Golcar. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a map where I can see Bank Marsh? So far my search for Bank Marsh has turned up nothing.

Thanks!

Hi -The area of Marsh in the early nineteenth century known as "The Bank" was in fact Sunny Bank and can be found on the 1854 O.S MAP. The area is now of course redeveloped and is covered by Sunny Bank Road.It is approximately 2 miles from Golcar. Ian S

Just in case it's of use, the location of the property known as Sunny Bank is shown here: https://huddersfield.exposed/p/1a80

This is an interesting one as I have just been looking at a copy of my 1848 map of Marsh iSBN 1-903004-40-3 and Sunny Bank doesn't look like this map shown. I am presuming that the Sunny Bank Road shown is now Imperial Road as Luther Place wasn't a through road until the Ambulance Station was built c. 1963. The present Sunny Bank Road is now a right turn off Cleveland Road which is indicated by Cleveland House (from Edgerton). The Sunny Bank shown is adjoining the Halifax/EdgertonRoad but the 1848 shows it in the region of the junction with Thornhill Road at Marsh, where the top of the present Sunnybank Road finishes.

I see only one Sunny Bank / Road / House / Beck.
The (unnamed) Sunny Bank Road on Ya Jan's map is the same road as on Dave's 1907 map and down to the present day.
However by 1893 it had been extended southeastward along the south side of the house to meet Cleveland Road, which had been built
on the line of the old drive leading from the Halifax / Edgerton Road toward the house, before continuing southwestward to New Hey Road.
The house has seen changes over the years and is now divided into two residences; 4 and 6 Cleveland Road (Glendale and Sunnybank House).
Sunny Bank Beck to the southeast of and parallel to the old drive on Ya Jan's map is still so called.

Hi 'John' Yes thanks for putting me straight. I had wrongly presumed that the section of 'Road' was the Halifax/Edgerton Road. I didn't notice Glenside on the right hand side of the detail, otherwise I would have realised that it was Cleveland Road.
