I live in Sydney, Australia. My g-g-grandmother emigrated from Huddersfield to Australia in 1854. Poll Books and the Census show that her family lived in “Nether Hall”, Dalton between 1835 and 1841 (probably later).
But exactly what and where was “Nether Hall” in 1835-41?
Could it have been the Nether Hall barn (now a Riding School) as it has a fireplace dated “AD1631”? I know that the later Nether Hall was once opposite the barn in the vacant grass/treed space. In the 1860s, newspaper ads describe Nether Hall as “a cottage and a large garden”. But in 1910, a photo (from Kirklees Image Archive) shows that it was a substantial two-storey building which had been partitioned into a row of small cottages, and then demolished in the1960s.
So, in 1835–1841, would “Nether Hall” have been - the “barn”? the substantial building in the 1910 photo? or a much smaller “cottage” which was demolished/expanded to build this 2-storey building?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This extract from "Discovering Old Huddersfield" Part One, by Gordon and Enid Minter, should answer your question:

"NETHER HALL.
New road alignment and modern landscaping have completely obliterated
the site of Nether Hall and only its fine barn, now used as a riding school, remains
to remind us of its presence. The hall ended its days partitioned into a row of small
cottages which bore few traces of the building's past importance."

This map published in 1854 shows the Hall to the left of the 'kink' in the lane and the barn to the right:
