I have a William Newton at Stagwood Hill and have found numerious references to this location but have not been able to pinpoint it. I have a description from "the History and topography of the parish of Kirkburton..." but it has not helped.
Thanks

Hello Sloper35
this is a wild card....Some of my extended family were the Sandford/sandiforth/stanniforth/ of Slackwood/Stackwood/Stagwood depending how the vicar was feeling. As families tend to stick together, and I cannot work out why this family just appeared at this location when they were baptised in Huddersfield. Do you know if there was any connection between the Newtons and the Sandfords?- j

Wyjan I am sorry to say I have found no connections to your name. A search of Google turns up the naming of Stagwood Hill by Mr Newton and a reference to the "De Stakwoods" at some time in the distant past. I have noted the address for those interested
